Stripe – Payment Processing

Stripe forces HTTPS for all services using TLS (SSL). Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology protects your information using both server authentication and data encryption, ensuring that your data is safe, secure, and available only to registered Users in your organization. Stripe regularly audits the details of its implementation: the certificates they serve, the certificate authorities they use, and the ciphers they support. Stripe uses HSTS to ensure browsers interact with Stripe only over HTTPS. Stripe is also on the HSTS preloaded lists for both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

All card numbers are encrypted on disk with AES-256. Decryption keys are stored on separate machines. None of Stripe’s internal servers and daemons are able to obtain plaintext card numbers; instead, they can just request that cards be sent to a service provider on a static whitelist. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and doesn’t share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services (API, website, etc.). Stripe has two PGP keys to encrypt your communications with Stripe, or verify signed messages you receive from Stripe.

When Stripe conduct fraud monitoring, prevention and detection activities, Stripe may also receive Personal data about you from Courtpath Inc., financial service providers, identity verification services, and publicly available sources (e.g., name, address, phone number, country), as necessary to confirm your identity and prevent fraud. Stripe fraud monitoring, detection and prevention services may use technology that helps Stripe assess the risk associated with an attempted transaction that is enabled on Courtpath Inc. or the application that collects information.
